Août 1992, Savannah, 28 ans, revient à Phnom Penh après quatre années passées à combattre les khmers rouges au nord du Cambodge. Comme tous ceux de sa génération, il n’a connu, depuis l’enfance, que la guerre, les camps, la famine et les massacres.
“One Evening after the War” is a 108-minute movie directed by Rithy Panh and was premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival. The film shows about a life of a soldier who receives nothing at all after the war.
The sad story about those two lovers portrays a very dark picture of Cambodia after the war. It is very difficult currently to rebuild society, where everybody has to learn to live together. « War makes one crazy and destroys all solidarity » says Rity Panh.
Great movie by Rithy Panh. It reflects the reality of Cambodian society.
